Vice President Business Development
Mike Cooney joined the Renaissance Group in 1996, bringing with him a broad range of experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry. As Vice President of Business Development at Renaissance Group, he has established solid relationships with insurance professionals throughout New England. He works particularly closely with Renaissance Group agents, assisting them to fully utilize the breadth of services available to their agencies and their clients.
Mike started his insurance career with the Kemper right out of college, then shifted to the agency world where he held positions of Commercial Lines Manager, Senior Vice President, Producer, and Administrator. He is a former Director and President of the Professional Insurance Agents of New England. He has also achieved the distinction of "Insurance Agent of the Year" for New England, and has received various industry awards for achievement in educational instruction. He has served on numerous company and industry committees.
A Certified Insurance Counselor and licensed advisor, Mike is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor of Science degree.
