Joseph A. Solomon
Senior Vice President for Administration
Joe Solomon joined the management team as First Senior Vice President of Renaissance Group, with responsibility to help lead the organization during this time of growth and opportunity.
Joe has more than 20 years of increasing responsibility and expertise in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Renaissance, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Beacon Mutual Insurance Company, which he helped grow from a start-up to become the “insurance company of choice” in a competitive market environment. As Chief Operating Officer and later as Chief Executive Officer, he guided Beacon Mutual to be a financially strong, service-oriented, successful mutual insurance company. He achieved growth by motivating staff through his vision, identifying cost drivers, developing strong agency relationships and partnerships, and providing superior service.
His operational experience includes responsibility for financial, underwriting, claims management, loss prevention, information systems, human resource management, legal, actuarial, and corporate communications. He also has proven experience in creating corporate vision, strategic planning and strategy implementation; establishing relationships and trust with agents, customers, employees and business partners; developing and negotiating strategic partnerships, company acquisitions, and business start-ups.
His previous insurance employment included Providence Washington Insurance Company and American Universal Insurance Group, where he began his insurance career.
Throughout his career, Joe has been active in industry and community concerns. He previously served as Vice President of the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds, was a board member on The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Governor’s Insurance Council, the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council, the Leadership Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, the Boy Scouts of America, Rhode Island Special Olympics, and Meeting Street School. Joe actively supports Rhode Island Hospital, chairing events which have raised significant money for Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Joe holds a Masters of Business Administration and BS degree in Accounting from Providence College, Certificate in General Insurance from the Insurance Institute of America and was designated a Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional from the School of Labor and Industrial Relations, Michigan State University.
