Account Coordinator

An Agency advocate working with our customers staff to provide the best possible opportunity to secure new business and remarket opportunities. The Account Coordinator will provide product, industry and market management expertise to enhance the producer’s ability to differentiate him / herself in the marketplace. They will also work closely with the carriers to assure timely and cost competitive quotes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Run daily reports for new submissions assigned to you as Agency Coordinator.
  • Manage target dates daily to ensure delivery of quotes by established target dates.
  • Monitor status of quotes as they move through underwriting and rating to identify potential problems. i.e. no identified market, surplus lines account in standard markets, need to split lines of business to move effectively place, etc.
  • Coordinate missing information from specific carrier reps and obtain information according to target and effective dates.
  • Deliver quotes to your assigned agents:
    - Confirm market access for agent.
    - Further negotiate coverage or pricing as needed.
    - Clarify any ambiguous coverages or “subject to” conditions.
    - Compare quotes to target pricing or prior pricing.
    - Provide coverage anaylsis as appropriate.
    - Follow up with agent to obtain information needed to ensure proper placement of coverage in the time frame available.
    -If risk not secured; determine reason – pricing, coverage, control, and if any future opportunities.
Responsibilities / Goals
Provide agents producers with a competitive edge in the marketplace by providing product, and industry expertise and support.

Deliver the best possible pricing and coverage for each submission in the most appropriate market.

Establish relationships with agent contacts to promote confidence in RAIS marketing strategy, and reinforce our commitment to excellence in customer service.

Work with carrier representatives to mentor, coach and promote aggressive but appropriate marketing tactics.

Produce daily and weekly status reports to efficiently work with each carrier reps to meet target dates consistently.

Bring back feedback from agencies regarding satisfaction levels regarding process and results.


Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to 3-5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets insurance coverage forms and applications and underwriting manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work within and follow defined authority guidelines and complies with various carriers’ restrictions. Ability to manage time and workload needs.

Carrier Representative

The carrier representative serves as our resident expert for their assigned carriers. They will develop an exceptional level of knowledge with respect to their carriers rating systems, product offerings, coverage enhancements, class appetites, and internal operations. Work with agents and account coordinators to negotiate best possible pricing and coverage on all submissions to their carrier.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review all submissions received daily and identify whether ratable or if submission is needed.
  • Secure all markets via submission within 24 hours.
  • Identify any carrier specific information required within 48 hours.
  • Complete rating of all in house submissions within 72 hours of receipt.
  • Effectively negotiate premiums, within 10% of carriers’ maximum credit on average.
  • Assist Agents in writing business, and enabling RAIS to meet carrier production goals.

Competency - To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies. Agency Management system and related software (AMS 360 a plus). Must have solid prior knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), effective time management skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Should have in depth knowledge of Commercial and Personal Insurance, as well as, Risk Management and Loss Control strategies.
