Workers Compensation Underwriting Assistant

SUMMARY: The role of the Workers Compensation Underwriting Assistant for the Renaissance Insurance Agency is to manage an assigned broker’s book of business according to the specific procedures and guidelines outlined by the Renaissance Group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

• Review renewal policies to evaluate loss experience, changes in operations, payment, and loss control history.

• Rate and offer renewal proposals to brokers on a timely basis, and follow up to secure policy issuance in compliance with agency service standards.

• Review policy data entry for rating and billing accuracy, and issue policy for new business.

• Analyze Audit Worksheets received by outside auditor. Collect appropriate information to evaluate and analyze the accuracy of the audit. Process split modification and cancellation audits in a timely fashion.

• Maintain accurate policy information for each assigned client by keeping policy data up to date with regard to requested changes to the policy, experience modifications, and amending exposures as needed.

• Identify forms and endorsements such as waivers of subrogation used in policy construction.

• Conduct account inquiries in various management systems.

• Respond to service and information requests from internal and external customers in timely fashion.

• Maintain service standards by timely response to broker requests.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, or at least two years related experience and training in the Insurance Industry.

Proven proficiency in software applications such as Windows98 or higher, Microsoft Word required.
AMS360, AFW, Phoenix, Excel preferred.

Director, Financial and Accounting Services

SUMMARY:

Provides leadership and direction to the designated members of RIG’s Financial and Accounting Services Team in the delivery of accurate and timely financial accounting and customer services

Directs and participates in the development, analysis and interpretation of financial data in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, financial performance, and budgeting to achieve fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the Company. Responsible for the company’s overall accounting policy and financial reporting performance including the monthly and yearly financial close, cash management including banking relationships, establishing and monitoring internal financial controls, and managing the internal and external audit processes.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

• Mentors, leads and directs the Financial & Accounting Services Team in the delivery of exemplary Financial and Accounting customer service to RIG member agencies, brokers, Minuteman investors, and internal Teams.

• Develops and maintains documentation of accounting policy consistent with GAAP accounting for external at both the holding company (RIG) and all operating companies levels

• Maintains financial procedures and controls for fiscal operations to ensure appropriate controls, confidentiality, & security are in place at all times.

• Insures timely financial statement consolidation preparation and with professionally documented supporting schedules, reports, and analyses

• Presents monthly financial statements and related schedules and reports to RIG executives and appropriate outside stakeholders and parties

• Administers budgeting process including development, revisions, non-financial manager budget support and communications, and budget reporting.

• Maintains and continually improves a fiscal operations system that reflects and accommodates for organizational financial complexity. Responsible for the effective use of both internal and external technology in achieving improved accuracy and productivity of the Finance & Accounting Services Team.

• Performs and prepares financial analyses as needed and directed.

• Establishes and maintains management level banking, consulting, leasing, and key vendor, carrier, and customer financial services and accounting relationships.

• Supervises payroll processing staff to insure accurate and timely payroll processing, federal and state reporting and tax payments, and related tasks.

• Reviews monthly Minuteman financial results and correlates to Renaissance Insurance monthly results.

• Administers annual audit process by working closely with outside auditors to insure timely and most cost effective independent audits.

• Provides RIG specific accounting related support to internal RIG managers and the RAIS Training Team

• Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct supervision of designated members of the Finance & Accounting Services Team

• Leads the Finance & Accounting Services Team in the development and timely assessment and review of the Team’s Balance Score Cards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and at least 5 years of job-related experience within the insurance industry. Advanced Finance, Accounting, & Management courses or degree and designations preferred.

Proven management and leadership skills; strong professional oral and written communication and customer service skills; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required; proven proficiency in spreadsheet software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Other applications required: Windows98 or higher, Great Plains Dynamics, and others.
