Fireworks, Grilling, Blueberries & more: Social media themes for your insurance agency in July

Fire up those grills! Independence Day is always a highlight of the month, with many great celebrations ... a good time to offer grilling safety tips to your social media followers - and maybe a few recipe tips, too. July 4 festivities feature fireworks, but experts say these are best left to the pros. Far too many children and grown adults are injured by home-based fireworks. Beyond the holidays, summer offers a wide range of potential safety and insurance reminders: home and auto maintenance, burglar-proofing your home when traveling, road tip maintenance tips, electrical storm safety and more. Plus, summer is the deadliest time for highway crashes so driving safety is always an important issue.

Bruce Cochrane named 2018 Insurance Professional of the Year

We are so proud to share the news that Bruce Cochrane, founder and President of Renaissance Alliance Insurance Services (RAIS), has been named the 2018 Insurance Professional of the Year by the Insurance Library Association of Boston. While we may be a little biased on his behalf, we think it is so well deserved! All of us at Renaissance Alliance recognize the lifelong leadership and achievements that Bruce has demonstrated over his four decades of service and innovation in our industry.

Notes on Subrogation

We all know how subrogation is supposed to help employers: A worker is injured through the actions of a third party; workers comp covers lost wages and medical bills from the time of the injury; the employee files a tort liability suit against the third party; the tort claim is eventually settled, the insurer is reimbursed for the comp claim and the employer's experience rating is retroactively recalculated for any year impacted by the claim. Premium dollars flow back to the employer. All's well that ends well, right? Not quite.
