Bob Hollis, Hollis Insurance Agency, Named MAIA Pacesetter of the Year!
Renaissance Alliance member agent Bob Hollis, President of Hollis Insurance Agency, was recently named "Pacesetter of the Year" by Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) – and we couldn’t be prouder!
Bob joined the MAIA Board of Directors in 2005 and immediately became a member of their legislative committee. When the Massachusetts automobile insurance marketplace was undergoing dramatic changes, Bob assumed the chairmanship of MAIA's legislative committee, and they timing couldn't have been better.
The introduction of managed competition left a little bit of cleaning up to do and Bob took the lead in legislative efforts to:
Retain an impartial appeal procedure, known as the Board of Appeals, for drivers involved in at-fault accidents
Preserve the ownership of expiration for MAIP business
Eliminate the two-year "free-ride" from MAIP assignments for new market entrants to Massachusetts
Prohibit the use of credit to underwrite and rate private passenger auto insurance
His efforts are an example of leadership unmatched in recent years in the association. Although his term on board ended in 2010, he has remained an active member and the go-to guy for MAIA legislative action on Beacon Hill.
Bob is a longtime, valued member of Renaissance Alliance and we've been proud to have him on our team. He exemplifies what it means to be a local independent agent. A mainstay in the Plymouth community, he's been active over the years in Little League, Pop Warner Football, The Planning Board, the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and numerous other organizations. He’s particularly dedicated to the arts, having founded the Greater Plymouth Performing Arts Center, a nonprofit for performing arts and educational programs in the greater South Shore region.
